Ally: Victoria Ecosystems

Vör x Victoria Land x Thrusters Unlimited

Vör has allied with Victoria Ecosystems, sister company of Victoria Land to provide high quality carbon offsets underpinned by open source, auditable and accurate data points.

Victoria Land receives investment to strengthen its Carbon Offset data capabilities

Satellite company Thrusters Unlimited has just announced that it is investing in VictoriaLand to enhance Victoria’s data capabilities and help it exceed expectations of its carbon offset clients in the monitoring of the natural areas under its protection.

Victoria’s carbon offset is part of The Legacy Offset, which also includes biodiversity and food security offsets. The main characteristic of The Legacy Offset is its open data policy: all data backing up the offset claims are made public, not just in the form of institutional reports, but in a variety of formats so that anyone with internet access can verify that such claims are true and make sense. Internet users can share in their social media data from the natural areas where the offset occurs as it is published by Victoria.

The key and revolutionary concept behind The Legacy Offset is Decentralized Environmental Verification (DEV). DEV guarantees that anyone can verify the health of the ecosystem anytime, from anywhere in the world.

In occasion of the announcement, Benjamin Najar, CEO of Thrusters Unlimited, mentioned that: “This is the first of a series of investments that the company plans to make in VictoriaLand, since we see a huge potential in the carbon and biodiversity offsets it offers, just as we see a real commitment to transparency in the management of data related to nature”.

Thrusters Unlimited has satellites that provide high-resolution images for many different industrial and commercial applications and uses, and also for Earth observation and the identification of risk factors in natural areas, added Benjamin Najar, also saying that “betting on VictoriaLand is supporting humanity’s future”.

Christopher Córdova, Co-founder & CEO of VictoriaLand said that “for the whole team it is a privilege to work with Thrusters Unlimited, since there is a clear coincidence in purpose and vision”. And he added that this investment will allow Victoria to monitor the ecosystems at a high degree of detail and much more frequently than current offsets on the market, allowing for the timely assessment of risks to the ecosystems.
